Whether you’re repping your local club, your old squad, or just keen to ball, this is your chance to be part of HoopsFest not just as a fan, but on the court. With a massive $50,000 prize pool, split evenly between the Men’s and Women’s competitions, there’s more than just bragging rights on the line.

FAQs

How do we register/qualify?

Registrations will be open to the public on 31st of July. There is no eligibility criteria.

1. Complete the nomination form above including details of your team members.
2. NBL will review nominations and confirm acceptance by email within seven (7) business days.
3. NBL will issue individual registration links and invoices for entry fees. A team’s spot is not guaranteed until entry fees have been paid.
4. Teams are required to provide confirmation of booked flights within two weeks of acceptance into HoopsFest Cup.

Limits apply to the number of teams from a state that can register. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

What are the game timings?

-  Warm Up: 5 minutes

- Game Time: 4 x 8 minute quarters fully timed

- Half Time: 5 minutes

- Quarter & 3-Quarter Breaks: 2 minutes

- Extra Time: 3 minutes (all games must have result)

- Extra Time Break – 2 minutes   

- Time outs – 2 in first half, 3 in second half, 1 only in extra time   

- In the event, teams are tied at the end of first over time teams will go into golden goal. First team to score will be deemed the winner.

How many players per team are we allowed?

Teams must have a minimum of eight (8) players and a maximum of twelve (12) players.

How much does it cost?

Entry fees for teams based in WA are $500/team, entry fees for teams based outside of WA is $300/team.
Entry fees cover the whole team with no additional individual fees to be paid.

*A team is determined as being from outside of WA when 75% of players reside outside of WA. Due venue capacity, a limit on team entries from within WA will be in place to ensure teams from outside WA have the opportunity to enter. Teams from within WA will be accepted on a “first in, best dressed” policy.

Our team has players from WA and from other states, what fee will we be charged?

To be classified as a team from outside WA, your team needs to have a minimum of 75% of players residing outside WA.  

How many games will we play?

All teams will play a minimum of four games and up to six games if they make the grand final.  

How will finals work?

Finals format will depend on the final number of teams competing. All efforts will be made to have 3 rounds of finals.

When is the last game?

Grand Finals will take place on Sunday 18 January and conclude by 2pm

Our team has injuries, can we swap players out?

Teams are able to make adjustments to their playing list up until 6pm on Wednesday 14 January.

My team can no longer make it, is the entry fee refundable?

A team that withdraws before the fixture is set will have their entry fees refunded less $100 administration fee.

A team with withdraws after the fixture is set will receive a 50% refund of entry fees

A team that withdraws within two weeks of the beginning of the tournament will forfeit their entire entry fee.  

Are there any player restrictions?

Any player on a current NBL or WNBL roster is not permitted to participate.

When will fixtures come out?

Fixtures will be set no later than four weeks prior to the start of the tournament.  

Will games be abandoned if it becomes too hot?
